DHCA training services successfully target all areas of safety and health, helping to educate the general public and medical service professionals as well. DHCA training is taught with specific industries in mind and can be customized to meet your needs. By facilitating a training center approach and providing professional instruction in the workplace and community, DHCA offers a wide variety of training classes.

Training's are conducted in a classroom and skills based setting to provide needed experience. Instructors have required certificates and experience for teaching.

Medication Technician Training Program (MTTP)

The MTTP training course is a requirement for unlicensed staff to administer medications in a community based environment for all agencies that are licensed by the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) . This course encompasses the entire curriculum developed by DDA in which DHCA utilizes, lecture, hands on, case studies and practical applications to teach this course. Our faculty has been teaching the course since it’s inception, and has a long history of positive feedback by students, agencies and nurses that have taken the course. Upon successful completion of the course students will be Certified by the Maryland Board of Nursing as Medication Technicians (CMT).

Two Year Clinical Update (Medication Class; MTTP)

The MTTP Two Year Clinical Update course is for those people who have successfully completed the initial MTTP Course, and is listed on the Maryland Board of Nursing Web site as a "Certified Medication Technician." First Aid Course

First aid can save lives, reduce recovery time and quite possibly mean the difference between temporary disability or lifelong disability for the victim. Program participants learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of injuries and sudden illness. Crucial information about how to deal with emergencies like shock, burns, strains, strokes and seizures is shared. Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.

 

Lecture, demonstrations, discussions and hands-on training teach participants to:

  • Recognize emergency situations
  • Check the scene and call for help
  • Avoid blood borne pathogen exposure
  • Care for wounds, bone and soft-tissue injuries, head and spinal injuries, burns, and heat and cold emergencies
  • Manage sudden illnesses, stroke, seizure, bites and poisoning
  • Minimize shock

CPR

In this training course, participants will master necessary skills for the administration of CPR. They learn how to recognize a life-threatening emergency, how to provide basic life support and what to do in the case of an airway obstruction or choking.
This training course covers appropriate rescue techniques for patients of all ages as well as critical background information about heart disease, risk factors, prudent heart living, and heart and lung function. Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of heart attack, stroke and choking emergencies, as well as the most current medical responses available to bystanders.
This training course includes lecture, demonstrations, discussions and hands-on training. Upon completion of this course, participants will receiving a training certificate valid for 1-2 years.
